We all know it: Mergers and acquisitions too often destroy value
Successful PMI requires a dual focus on:
- “Executers” – required to maintain momentum and drive
- “Change Ambassadors” – required to embrace and anchor changes in the new organisation
Most PMI initiatives are exclusively focused on execution. Work streams are completed on time and budget, but do not obtain lasting results.
Two initiatives can radically improve your odds:
Executers are usually visible as managers renown for “getting things done”. But who do the employees, the part of the organisation in need of embracing the change, follow through change?
It turns out, a few select peers have a huge impact on the perception of change.
When is the integration complete?
For most Post Merger Integrations, the answer is: ‘when we have run out of initiatives’, which usually is within the first 6 months. But it is possible to measure the level of integration throughout the organisation, focusing subsequent integration efforts.
